#1 The Honda Accord was left stranded on the freeway shoulder early Monday morning. Its emergency lights were still flashing, but no one stopped to help. It was easy to find reasons not to get involved in someone else's problems.

#4 When he'd first learned that he would take Denise out that Sunday, Rob Calvert was ecstatic. Early that evening, after arriving home from work, he checked his telephone answering machine and found a message from his friend, Jason Snyder. Hey, Rob. I have a couple of tickets for the Morrissey concert at the Forum, but I have to work tonight. I was gonna take Denise. I need you to go with her. Okay, man.
