#1 The cabin on Cub Lake was beautiful. It was remote, had a runway, and the scenery was postcard perfect. It had everything we wanted. We were excited to discover if it was too good to be true.

#2 I was curious about Roger's life in the wilderness. He had been living in a small dry cabin across Cub Lake since buying it sight unseen four years prior. He had never stepped foot on Alaskan soil until he got off the plane from his flight from Colorado.

#3 I had a lot of information swirling in my head after meeting with Shon and Roger. I was impressed with the cabin on Cub Lake, but I was also aware of the challenges of living so far from town. I knew we would have to rely on ourselves more than usual.

#4 We asked God for guidance, and he led us to 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, which says, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
