In order to manifest, there was an emanation from the Absolute into two streams of consciousness called Father and Mother. The Mother is often referred to as the great sea of substance or light in which the Father reflected Himself. The word "mare," or "sea," is sometimes called "the Virgin Mary." The first step therefore in manifestation was the One Being becoming both masculine and feminine. Man has a conscious (male) and subconscious (female) mind—simply two phases of the one universal consciousness specialized or individualized.

It would seem confusing to refer to God as Mind, except we clarify what we mean by Mind.
