Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 I was born on January 3, 1952, in Fort Bragg, California. My parents had been high school sweethearts. They had me eight months later, after they had gotten married and fled their hometown of Westville, Oklahoma. I was small when I was born, and my parents decided to drive 2,000 miles to get away from it all. #2 I had a lot of friends who hosted sleepovers, but they never wanted to stay over at my house. I graduated high school in 1970. Westville High was a smaller school, which meant the teachers could help each student more and give individual attention when needed. I never felt like just a number. #3 I had a desire to be a leader, but I didn't like the fact that so many of the factors that determined my success were out of my control. I grew up seeing the frustration in the faces of my parents and grandparents, and I knew I wanted to find myself in a different line of work. #4 My father was a strong man who instilled those same traits in me. He was tough, quiet, and hard to read. He gave me many responsibilities as I grew up, and he knew I could handle them.
