The role of Jupiter and Saturn is extremely important in analyzing the strength of the horoscope as Jupiter indicates the potential and Saturn tells the inherent energy which the person possesses to accomplish things in life. It is the study of these two planets which lays the foundation of the horoscope and the rise a person can have.
Jupiter, whatever may be the social position at the time of birth, reveals, the built in, deep seated, intrinsic essential and inborn capability for a person to fulfill accomplish and function in life. In the natal chart, Jupiter is the Lord of the Ninth House, and the Twelfth House i.e. house of Expenditure. The Ninth House leads to knowledge, growth of learning, spiritualism etc. The Twelfth House denotes salvation, global friendship and charity. The Puranas also describe the harmful effects of Jupiter. It is said that Ram had to go in exile as the Jupiter was in the ascendant (lagna). Jupiter in the third house sent Bali to the netherworld (Paatal). Jupiter in the fourth house was responsible for the trials and tribulations of King Harishchandra. Jupiter in the sixth house lead to Draupadi being de-robed while being in the eighth house it caused Ravana's destruction. Jupiter in the tenth and twelfth houses caused the death of Duryodhan and Pandu.
Saturn is related to the ability to act and produce effect. The existence capability latent, dormant and lurking as reflected by Jupiter can be yoked by our work, the potential of work becoming productive and the gains is what Saturn signifies and is related to NOW. In politics Saturn is the leader of the masses, sacrificing for the poor, striving for the welfare of the people and a karaka for democracy.
People ruled by a beneficial Saturn display no arrogance, are friendly, courteous, helpful, and charitable by nature. These people help others move forward in life. These people are learned and make good teachers, researchers, and ministers and are visionaries by nature. Traits like knowledge, interest in community welfare and brotherly love for all are apparent in their demeanour.
