I hope you are interested in the journey taken by the children of Israel from Egypt to the promised land. These people could have reached in less than a year, but it instead took 40 years and of those who left Egypt, only two reached the land. This is scary of course but it tells us that the narrow route we are required to go through is narrow and when the Lord said that few find it, he meant few. So how narrow is narrow and how few is few? We trace the salient features in the journey by the children of Israel and relate the same to our Salvation match. Can we be a better people? Today if we were to experience the same exact task from God, could we pass the test? Could any of us today have made it, even after getting to know the tasks, successes, and failures of the children of Israel? We go step by step with an analysis based on the things that God has taught us in the scriptures. We try to understand more of this journey that the Israelites took, in line with the scriptures. They did not have the scriptures but the law, and Moses and Aaron and occasional visits by God himself and let us not forget his presence in the cloud pillar. We have the scriptures and the simple requirement, to walk in the light and in obedience to the Holy Spirit. How hard is that and if they could not follow Moses whom they were seeing, can we follow the Holy Spirit given to us by the Lord Jesus? Will you join me as we explore the number of turns the Israelites made, why I think they made them and how it could give us resilience in facing today's problems that could potentially distract us from finding the narrow gate?
