This book is the first in the series, "Our Truth Be Told." At the first writing of this book in January, 2018, the story began when Marita left therapy after 14 years. She chose not to mention she had Dissociative Identity Disorder because she believed it would take away from her miraculous story of forgiveness and healing through nature. In September, 2020, this book was completed. She took one more look and realized she still had walls of shame around her. Although, powerful in itself, this book did not reflect the whole truth. She chose to break down her walls of shame and tell the complete story. This book is told in three parts. The first part recounts her life in therapy with two therapists. The first therapist betrayed her and she never recovered completely even though the second therapist helped tremendously bringing more harmony and balance to her inner system. The second part takes the reader on her personal journey of forgiveness and healing through a connection to nature. She leaves therapy, disgruntled and disappointed because she never integrated. She chooses to follow the guidance from her inner voice to continue healing on her own. Her life changes dramatically and she believes she integrated. She changes careers from a legal secretary of 18 years to an artist and surrenders more to her inner voice. She moves to Sedona, Arizona, over 1,700 miles away from her home and daughters. She takes only what she can fit in her Honda Civic. Before she leaves, she burns all her journals detailing her life with DID and leaves her past behind. She returns to the basics of life living minimally as she camps, lives out of her car, and creates art. Her past comes back to haunt her as she travels to Ajo, Arizona and does a 20-day fast in the desert. In the third part she shares her excitement and passion as she chooses to walk 120 miles for peace from Sedona to Prescott and back. Once again her unresolved past is reflected in relationships with men and memories of sexual abuse from her childhood. This book is compelling and it is truly a testimony of overcoming traumatic sexual abuse as a child; finding peace and forgiveness; and living a life of service to others through art and poetry. The title, "Without Walls Without Shame" reflects the growth that has come to Marita from writing this book in its whole truth.
