These short stories are about people and diverse relationships; growing up, growing old, maybe even growing wiser.

In "The Hawksnest" take a wealthy businessman with some exotic tastes, beautiful wife, a young architect commissioned to design their "dream" home and see what happens!

In Travelling Rough" the O.E or "overseas experience" as a rite of passage for young people was very different in the mid twentieth century as young Sam discovers.

Other stories include "Aunt Violet's Bed" (how she loved that bed),"Crossing the Divide", "A Little Bit of Trouble" and " Remembering Muriel". " The Boy who Talked to Trees" was previously published in"Solanum" a previous collection of short stories and has been included in this collection following further revision.

the author of these stories grew up and has spent most of his life in Northland at the top end of New Zealand where some of the stories are based. He has travelled extensively overseas and has worked in N>Z> London, and the Pacific Region as an architect.
