作者杨冠群，广东潮安人，1931年生。在上海和北京接受大学教育。1950年进外交部，先后在礼宾司、外交学院、美大司、国际司及我驻朝鲜、阿富汗、纽约、华盛顿、联合国的外交代表机构工作。离休前任中国常驻联合国亚太经社会副代表。著有《苦甜的鸡尾酒》、《潮头戏水三十年》等四书。现为中国联合国协会常务理事。作家，兼职教授。(Yang Guanqun, the author, came from Guangdong Chao'an, born in 1931. He received college education in Shanghai and Beijing. He entered into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1950, had successively been working in the Department of Protocol, Institute of Diplomacy, America-Oceania Division, International Division, as well as in the diplomatic missions of China in North Korea, Afghanistan, New York, Washington and the United Nations.
