"Sarah's Key" by Tatiana de Rosnay, was first published in September 2006. The book presents the story through two parallel plots.

In the first plot there is a girl named Sarah Starzynski. She is a ten-year old Jewish girl. She is born in Paris. During the Vel' Hiv Roundup, she and her parents are arrested.

Before their departure, Sarah hides her four-year-old brother in a cupboard. She thinks that they will be coming back in a few hours.

The second plot of the book follows the story of Julia Jarmond. She lives in Paris. She happens to be an American journalist. In the honor of the 60th anniversary of the Roundup, she is told to write an article during her stay in Paris.
