Steps Farmhouse, a modest former working farm, speaks from experience, reflecting on its 200 year history and its relationship with the many souls who have lived their lives within its walls.

The book begins before the house was erected, simple stone, and from the outset we appreciate that Spirit is in all things, including this timeless rock. The narrative follows the progress of the dwelling, developing themes as the farmhouse evolves through its many roles, touching the lives of all those who were under its protection. The house responds to a variety of experiences: witnessing the Somerset tradition of wassailing; the births and deaths which took place in the home; the departure of well- loved occupants; the changing of the seasons; the eventual establishment of the farm as a vegetarian guesthouse. Running as a vein through all the narrative is the farmhouse's simple philosophy: change is a positive part of life, unconditional love is the key to happiness, and God is in all things. We truly are One.

In essence, we have here, a farmhouse which, through many incarnations, reflects on the joys and sorrows of its past, teaching us to listen.

'I really enjoyed 'The Soul of the Stones'. I feel it has come from a good place and Noreen's genuine heart shines through. It is well written, skilful, charming. I was engaged throughout and really did get a clear picture of Steps Farm. I am a slightly better person after reading this book.' Gary Smailes.
