It is likely that almost everything you think you know about ALS is wrong.

Those who experience ALS embark on a difficult journey, dragging their families and friends along with them. The author suffered the first symptoms in 2012, was diagnosed in 2015 (two months before his 45th college reunion) and began this book in 2025, writing with his eyes (using the Tobii Dynavox). Over ten years, he has experienced ALS, been treated for ALS, participated in ALS chat groups and written about ALS and read about ALS. Here, he offers what he has learned for the benefit of fellow travelers and those who care for or love them. This is not a medical or scientific discourse, but a down-to-earth human to human dialogue, addressing most of the important questions that will arise during the struggle with this physical, mental and emotional challenge.

This book provides the information that your doctor, neurologist or, at least, someone should supply to every person receiving a diagnosis of ALS for themselves or a loved one.
