Heather Gordon and Sabrina Buggy's collaboration focusses on mythology and misogyny. This book weaves captivating poetry and stunning visual imagery to explore Feminism through the lens of fantasy.

Drawing on the myths of mermaids across different cultures, this book delves into the strength and resilience of women fighting through a storm of patriarchal forces. Women are reimagined as mermaids using acrylic flow technique and collage. Drawn from the experiences of an intergenerational group of women, they ask themselves what it means to be swimming in a sea of misogyny and what they value. These women are depicted as they see themselves, authors of their own stories on their own terms.

Juxtaposed with these images is Heather Gordon's poetry. Centred on the Eromanga Sea, these poems reflect on themes of conservation and activism.

Women have been collaborating through storytelling for centuries. This book continues this tradition, using their stories as a form of activism. It invites the reader to reflect on what Feminism means to them and how they can create change in their own section of the sea.
