You have several options if you want to invest without following the markets daily; you can purchase dividend ETFs or index funds. However, we are buying these for two distinct reasons.

We purchase index funds to grow our portfolio quickly and capture the market's gains. During retirement, we sell shares to generate income.

We purchase dividend ETFs to capture gains and pay us a growing dividend income. During retirement, we live off of the dividends without selling shares.

Either way, we must understand why we purchase each of these securities and how they can contribute to our long-term retirement plans. I use both religiously. Good Luck!
