With the recent adoption of the Uniform Statutory Trust Entity Act, Delaware's law on statutory trusts became the model for the entire country to follow. Practitioners and investors have increasingly used this newest form of entity for tax deferral, asset protection and balance sheet advantages. The features of a Delaware statutory trust read like a holiday wish list for planners and include: liability protection for the trustee; asset protection for the beneficial owner; delegation of management; one-time registration; no need for annual meetings; no franchise tax; and no limit on the number of investors. This new manual guides attorneys through each step of the process from formation to dissolution, and includes detailed tax analysis.

The Delaware Statutory Trusts Manual is edited by Charles J .Durante and Brian M. Gottesman who oversaw authors from the business and estate planning teams of Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz LLP. Connolly Bove is a Delaware firm with over 100 attorneys and represents many fortune 100 companies. The members of the Business Law Group actively serve on the committee responsible for overseeing legislative changes to the Delaware General Corporation Law. The list of contributors also includes a past chair of the Estates and Trusts Section of the Delaware State Bar Association.
