No one knows if freedom for genies is possible, but Ali and her allies have one hint: none of the genies remember how The Society came to be. Hoping the secret to genie freedom may lie within the history of The Society's inception, they're on a mission to discover if a record of that history still exists somewhere in the world.

However, two things stand in their way. One: the information they're after may be guarded by a rebel group of genie wizards who oppose The Society, believing genies are a corrupting influence that should be locked away. Two: the genies themselves.

In order for Ali's genie whisperer abilities to fully bloom, she must draw closer with the genies, while they must stop themselves from being too drawn in. Society members separate powerful genies within their families for a reason. Keeping too many territorial beings together leads to volatile results, especially if they grow possessive.
