When Kathryn travels from London to Dorset to investigate her mother's disappearance, she little suspects that she will become embroiled in a bitter family feud. The beautiful old house of Bulbury Knap is home to Sir Edwin and Lady Hewson, frail and elderly but determined to stay in the home they love. Equally determined is their nephew Andrew who wants them to leave, claiming to have their best interests at heart. Kathryn agrees to stay and look after them in her mother's absence, and estate manager Michael is her ally.
