"Trans" is a dramatic coming-of-age novel following the lives of two youngsters named: Paige Rodriguez, and Charles Jackson.
Paige Rodriguez is a girl who is struggling to come out of the closet. The problem is she has overly-religious parents that refuse to accept who she truly is. They even spend money to send her to a horrific conversion camp to set her straight.
Likewise, Charles Jackson has his own struggles. Charles Jackson is a person of color, and a transgendered woman who tries to find happiness by becoming Charlotte Jackson. However, society fails to accept Charlotte Jackson, and she is severely bullied. Her dreams of becoming a movie star are crushed as well, which sends her spiraling into a homeless shelter.
Together, Paige, and Charles grow up, and form a close bond as friends; unfortunately, life gets in the way. Their path becomes split, and they must separate. Yet similarities are abound as both must deal with homophobia, transphobia, racism, and sexism.
