When Diana's parents die, she finds herself with few choices. In order to survive, she agrees to marry Charles, a wealthy and older rancher. However, Diana realizes Charles is not the man she dreamed of meeting and loving.

Diana does find some solace in her new home and tries to make the best of a bad situation. She still longs for love and affection, but Charles is unable, perhaps unwilling, to give the affection Diana craves.

Diana begins to feel like she is trapped in a cage, with no way out. In her loneliness, she meets Gary who is willing and able to give her the love and affection she desperately needs.

Now Diana must find the strength to make a difficult decision that will affect not only her life but will affect the lives of others around her.
