While an adventure/fantasy novel, the setting is modern day with the fantasy elements of magic being uncovered by Nathan and his friends as the story progresses. After his father dies in battle during the war between Entritica and the terrorist organisation Chimera, Nathan becomes fixated on learning of the mysterious circumstances behind his death. Unbeknownst to him, he has a mysterious power that has been dormant in him since birth and as the story unfolds and more truths discovered as he gets closer and closer to the truth, his knowledge of this power grows, along with the impending danger from Maris and her followers in Chimera.
