Alice Gurley is fourteen years old when her mother's body is found in Kings Park. Ten years later, she asks her father to investigate her mother's murder case again, as the killer is still at large. Her father, a private detective, agrees, although he is already investigating another case, the death of a teenage schoolgirl. Alice then ask her friend Patrick to help them to solve the case.

Alice, a university student, has no intention of completing her education. She wants to be a writer. But her professor disagrees, and asks her ex Mr De Winter if Alice could get a job at his high school. Mr De Winter takes her on, temporary, as the art teacher is on sick leave.

One day, a fifteen-year-old girl is found dead in one of the toilets of the school. Alice is shocked and sets out to find the truth, but the more she discovers the more complex the case becomes.
