The story follows the life of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, a member of the ruling Tokugawa family who finds his true calling as a warrior after a chance encounter with bandits. He trains as a samurai and becomes one of the most respected and feared warriors in Japan. During a mission to protect geisha from a rival clan, he meets the strong and independent Yumi, who captures his heart.
