Tales of the forest: Devils and magic beings, this new book in my multimedia project 'My Indigenous Roots' on the oral traditions of the world, as the subtitle indicates, focuses on the 'devils and magical or powerful beings' that existed at a time when all beings were equal; all understood each other and shared the richness of the world, living in the present moment without any thought of colonisation.

Chomoch, born Galindo Ampicha Ramos, is the contact person for the Yanesha ethnic group in the native Ashaninka-Yanesha San Jerónimo community of Puerto Yurinaki, Perené, Peru. Paller and musician Chomoch has been at the centre of this initiative since the first Mapiniki book in 2019 and is my main narrator of these stories.
