Its ruling Sheikh has been convicted of kidnapping his daughter, and has not yet provided proof that she is alive. The fate of her sister, abducted 21 years ago, is also not known, as she has never been seen in public since then.

Dubai is actually a very dangerous place for international visitors, a huge proportion ending up in jail on trumped-up charges. The common public merely makes up the numbers to conceal invited global criminals, who use the place as a safe haven.
But the world is complicit, as everyone has always known that Dubai's rulers have been in the business of global crime for over 50 years now, from the time of the current ruler's father.
