The superwoman is a psychological syndrome that finds women needing to be perfect in multiple roles as professionals, wives, mothers, and homemakers resulting in the neglect of their own needs as individuals and adding stress when taking time for themselves.
The Death of a Superwoman –Book 2 - The Era of Slavery is an embellished autobiographical work depicting the life of a first generation American woman. It is the second of the series that emphasizes the female role in society that has existed for millennia and the subservient role of women that is still present in many cultures. It continues as Maxella lives through a life of abuse and how she manages to raise her adopted children and yet keep her self-esteem.
Maxella equates the role of wife with that of being a bond slave. The work describes how she juggles her roles as mother, wife, and daughter while keeping her sense of individuality. It gives the reader a sense of her desperation as she faces daily emotional and sexual abuse. The story explains the trauma of cancer and how her children coped with death.
The Death of a Superwoman –Book 2 - The Era of Slavery subtly shows that girls are not prepared to face life as women.
The entire series is recommended for adults only as it contains graphic material.
