John had moved from Hotel La Perla down the road, into this quaint apartment the day before I arrived and had no time to shop. Alberto, a kind gentleman who owns Hotel La Perla, had provided John with linens and kindly helped him set up the apartment. I open the fridge and see two oranges and a slab of cheese and realize I will find a store on one of the bicycles Alberto has loaned us. I will simply ask someone where the store is, but will bring my Italian/English Dictionary, just in case. I am certain my neighbours will know some English. Everyone knows at least a bit of English, I naively surmise.
