This book is a collection of forty poems- forty being a biblical number. A quote from scripture introduces each poem from which the work gets its inspiration. Biblical imagery is used throughout. In "The Trellis" a grandmother and a granddaughter share the faith ("blood-related not once but twice...thanks be to a sacrifice.)" Jesus is the Living Water in a poem about a Roman aqueduct ("Je Crois, I Believe"). The friendship between a knight and his squire is a "smooth gold coin" in the poem, "Thoughts on Cervantes' Don Quijote de la Mancha." While the themes are varied, they all point to Jesus Christ and the Gospel.
