Have you ever thought about where plants get their names? Do you wonder about the differences between plants in cold, hot, and wet climates? This engaging graphic novel seeks to answer those questions by introducing readers to the concept of taxonomy, or the science of naming and classifying living things. Readers will be invited to identify plants based on their characteristics, including roots, stems, leaves, seeds, flowers, and fruits. They'll learn about the wide variety of colorful organisms in the plant kingdom and the classification system used to differentiate between trees, crops, and flowers. Additionally, readers will gather advice for how and why they can help plants. At the end of the text, readers will meet Tu Youyou, a pharmacologist, and be invited to complete the Make a Plant Press activity.
