This essay sheds light on what causes ADHD, explicates how to prevent ADHD, and identifies the strategies for how to effectively manage ADHD. Similarly to how there are ample causes behind mental illnesses, the causes of ADHD are multitudinous. Contracting ADHD in the womb can be life alternating for an individual which is why it is of eminent importance that the mother does everything in her purview to preempt her child from contracting ADHD. Navigating your way through life in this simulated reality and attaining profound success in the real world can become all the more cumbersome when you have ADHD and have extremely difficulty focusing on the various tasks at hand. "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a chronic condition that affects a person's level of hyperactivity and impulse control. ADHD influences the parts of the brain that help us with what is known as 'executive functioning'. This includes problem solving, planning for the future, evaluating behaviors, regulating emotions, and controlling our impulses" (Smith, n.d.). "Key symptoms of the condition may include lack of focus, difficulty controlling impulses, challenges with organization, struggles with paying attention, and/or hyperactivity" (Block, 2020). The ramifications of contracting ADHD can be of dire consequence to your future and should not be overlooked. Children will be all the more prone to contracting ADHD if their parents choose to be irresponsible and neglectful towards optimizing the health of their children. It is believed that exposure to neurotoxins can elicit ADHD. "Exposure to lead for instance can result in hyperactivity and inattention. Lead can be found a variety of places, such as in the paint of homes built before 1978 or" (Low, 2019) even in municipal water supplies. Beyond exposure to neurotoxins being able to precipitate the development of ADHD, it is also believed that "poor nutrition and infections during pregnancy can increase the risk of ADHD. There is also evidence that suggests that using substances during pregnancy increases the risk that the child will develop ADHD. For instance, a research study found a significant relationship between smoking during pregnancy and the likelihood of a child having ADHD. The risk of ADHD was greater in children whose mothers were heavy smokers" (Low, 2019). Nothing good can ensue from fetuses being exposed to the noxious compounds, neurotoxins, carcinogens, and endocrine distributors from smoke. Maternal consumption of alcohol as the fetus is developing can also lead to the child contracting ADHD. "Some studies have found that mothers who drink during pregnancy are more likely to have children with ADHD. A study found that the use of at least four drinks or the regular use of low-moderate alcohol doses during pregnancy was associated with significantly increased odds of subsequent child ADHD" (Low, 2019). Nothing salubrious can ever ensue from drinking alcohol and the effects that it bears on a fetus are not only always adverse, but can also be life altering, especially if it can trigger birth defects in fetuses. Beyond the aforementioned causes of ADHD, "a small percentage of the population is apt to manifest ADHD symptoms as a result of brain damage, such as an early brain injury, trauma or another impediment to normal brain development. Moreover, Illnesses, such as meningitis or encephalitis, can result in learning and attention problems" (Low, 2019). Even though the causes of ADHD are extensive, they are not attributed to "playing video games nor watching TV shows" (Low, 2019). Adverse environmental factors, such as exposure to second hand smoke and exposure to deleterious household cleaning products which are tainted with,...
