What drives us to understand our anxiety, and how come after all this time and with the prevalence of therapies, self-help methods, and public experts offering solutions, we are no closer to feeling less anxious? In fact, it feels like we are collectively more anxious than ever.

A Philosophy of Anxiety examines these questions and meditates on the anxious self in a stressful world. Philosophy has always been concerned with these feelings of unease, whether it be in Kierkegaard, Camus, or Sartre. This book continues in that existentialist tradition, but remains grounded in experiences that everyone with anxiety in our current time recognizes. It interrogates our attitudes towards anxiety, and the methods that we are taught to deal with it. How should someone live, as an anxious person, in an anxious world?
