This book is ostensibly about psychological testing especially about personality testing. It is a critique of traditional thinking involved in the development of psychological testing. There has been attempts to start a rethink about fundamental issues such as the psychometric requirements, the social desirability effect, etc. There has also been a lot of use of statistics without trying to understand that, by itself, no statistics can evern answer questions that are essentially psychological in nature. These are all analysed to develop a better alternative. A tentative theory of personality has been proposed to understand the social desirability effect. The concept of error (of fluctuation) has been construed as dynamism and has been used as providing an index of personality. Finally, the Projective-Inventory as a method of testing personality is proposed as a better alternative to the measures available. This book is meant to challenge, provoke and force psychologists to think about these problems which is so very essential for this discipline to grow.
