The manuscript is a doctoral work in which an effort to introduce a new dimension of poverty named as chronic poverty, from which people of remote rural areas especially tribals are suffering since ages. Poverty is a outcome of access failure to five types of capitals a human being is entitled with viz; natural, physical, human financial and social. The focus of this research is on tribal people residing in remote rural areas, where poverty is particularly extreme and the chances for economic growth and human development are doubtful. Lastly, through the work the authoress has raised a new debate on a form of poverty in which people or households are trapped since generations. It is suggested that special policies to overcome this nature of poverty should be implemented. The book would be extremely useful to students and researchers, administrators and policy makers and all those interested in issues related to socio-economic development.
