The role of field work as an integral part of the training for professional social workers has to be recognized by all concerned so that the best effort is made by the student, the school and the agency to provide such learning opportunities o the student which will have a carry over effect in his professional career field work. Field work placement in the first year is generally intended to provide learning opportunities for students in the practice of basic social work techniques such 4 as casework, group work and community organisation. Field work manuals or outlines prepared by each school for use in the various field help to guide the students who are also individually supervised by faculty supervisors. The social work profession is guided by a distinct set of abstract values and a Code of Ethics. These values are transformed into accepted practice principles for the purpose of informing our intervention with clients. What follows is a listing of nine Social Work Principles and brief description of each. This book elaborately discusses all relevant issues in comprehensive way.
