Animal production plays an important role in most small-scale farming systems throughout the world. They provide traction to cultivate fields, manure to maintain crop productivity, and nutritious food products for human consumption and income-generation. Despite the importance of livestock, inadequate livestock nutrition is a common problem in the developing world, and a major factor affecting the development of viable livestock industries in poor countries. Global livestock production is going to be more and more sophisticated in order to improve efficiency needed to supply the rising demand for animal protein of a growing, more urban and affluent population. Technological advances and the development of science-based management practices and standards have enabled to make vast strides in the efficient and economical generation of higher-quality animal foods and fiber products. The health and quality of livestock is influenced by genetics, care, nutrition and environment. Research and technology generation seeking ways to overcome food insecurity and poverty are therefore essential for agricultural and rural development. This book emphasizes on trends and technologies in animal production and feeding. It sheds light on clostridial spores, pesticides residues in animal feed, mixtures of legumes, aflatoxins in feedstuffs, advantages and disadvantages to the animal and animal feed sampling and analysis. Details about possible production of genome-edited animals are also covered herein. This compendium will be of immense interest for students, researchers, as well as practitioners associated with dairy science, animal science, animal science, nutrition, physiology, biochemistry, veterinary medicine and other related fields.
