The American Revolution did not end with the surrender of Cornwallis or the 1783 Treaty of Paris. The revolution continued with the battle to create a Republic, which was accomplished with the 1788 ratification of the U.S. Constitution and then the fight to establish the Republic during the Washington Presidency. This was one seemless revolution that lasted for 21 years. Throughout every phase of this revolution, the indispensible leader was George Washington. What was created was a self-governing Republic, committed to human progress, never before witnessed in human history.
