This account of the 1815 Belgium campaign, during the Hundred Days, is famous for its frequent quotation in nearly every study of that campaign. Written by an eye-witness to the battle of Waterloo and its aftermath, the pictures drawn by the writer are graphic of the violence of the battle and mighty clash of arms. Although jingoistic to the modern reader it provides reliable and valuable information on the campaign. The eye-witness has been identified by modern research to have been an officer in the 3rd Battalion 1st Regiment of Foot (Royals).
