Activities in this package promote the development and extension of 'thinking' strategies such as brainstorming, problem reversal, lateral thinking and forced analogies. The tasks are designed to enhance the development of cognitive and affective processes such as risk taking, applied imagination, originality, curiosity, flexibility and elaboration. Students will learn about Antarctic discovery and exploration, Antarctic adventurers, historical events, research bases, daily life in Antarctica, working in Antarctica, features of the landscape and of course, Antarctica's unique wildlife. Each activity is stand-alone and all activities are ideal for either a learning centre, homework challenge or general library or classroom lessons.
