This Library Activity Pack contains a set of photocopiable task cards ideally suited to a library learning centre. The cards are designed to promote the use of creative thinking skills based around the topic of world exploration and are to be used in conjunction with the Super Space resource book. The activities involve the use and extension of 'thinking' strategies such as Mind Mapping, brainstorming, problem reversal, lateral thinking and forced analogies. The tasks are designed to enhance the development of cognitive and affective processes such as risk taking, applied imagination, originality, curiosity, flexibility and elaboration. Each activity card is stand-alone, with many cards having ideas for extension. Through investigating the topic of space, students are given the opportunity to blast off into the unknown, viewing all aspects of space and astromony. Included are activities exploring the solar system and its components, as well as stars, asteroids, comets, meteors, eclipses, the cosmos, galaxies and the features of our universe as a whole.
