One ring to govern them all

The One Ring was connected to all the others, and Sauron wanted to preserve it for himself.
It seems appropriate to look back and examine the background and significance of each of these remarkable rings.

The rings were given to the races of Middle Earth by Sauron in the expectation that its leaders would succumb to the lure of the rings and become easier to rule, despite the fact that they are destructive, corruptive, and seductive to the minds of most humans. Sauron convinced the Elven-smiths to construct the rings under his direction while disguising himself so that the Elves would not recognize him for who he really was. Celebrimbor was the leader of the Elven-smiths. Sixteen of the 19 rings that were produced were handed to Dwarves and Men (seven Dwarves and nine Men), although only three of the rings were forged by Elves without the assistance of Sauron. These three rings were made not for battle but for healing and safety, and they were preserved by the Elves, concealed from Sauron. The Lord of the Rings is very literally centered on the lengthy and intricate history of the Rings of Power and their role in determining the fate of Middle Earth.

The Rings of Power, starting with the rings that were handed to the races of Men and Dwarves, moving on to the rings that the Elves kept secret, and ending with the One Ring that was created by and for Sauron himself. The 19 rings, commonly referred to as the Lesser Rings, were distributed by Sauron to the many races of Middle Earth in an effort to entice them into submitting to his will. The race of mankind gained nine of these rings, making them essentially immortal, yet their everlasting existence eventually grew intolerable. They began to have visions of Sauron as a result of the rings, and finally, they submitted to him.

Yes, it is becoming more intriguing.
