Summary of Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman

In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman aims to define new terms and coin new phrases to illustrate cognitive blunders. He writes this in the hopes that people would be able to spot these flaws in themselves and others, and then apply the lessons he provides to improve.

We are told that System 1 is a made-up character who stands in for the brain's intuitive function, while System 2 is a made-up character who takes things into account while making decisions. Both systems play important parts in evaluating the world and helping us make choices, but they do so in distinct ways.

Kahneman argues that we frequently make irrational decisions due to our haste in accepting the results of our automatic System 1 processing without first thoroughly examining them using our more deliberative System 2 process.
