Grant, a first grader in Winooski, Vermont, worries about his exhausted parents. When his classmate's father becomes ill, his concerns intensify. Meanwhile, in Colorado Springs, Zahra struggles with her parents' hospitalization because they are in medically-induced comas. Unfortunately, Grant's and Zahra's parents are not the only ones facing problems. All adults, consumed by their thoughts, have lost the ability to dream. Seeking solutions for their parents, this young boy and girl unexpectedly find answers in their dreams. They also find the network, a mysterious hub of energy. But from where does the network's energy come, and how is it used?
