The NHS defines gender dysphoria as "a sense of unease that a person may have because of a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity." In plain English, if you don't feel like you're the gender you were given when you were born, and you're uncomfortable with that, you've got gender dysphoria.
Many people who have gender dysphoria call themselves transgender or nonbinary. Transgender people identify as a gender that's different from the gender that they were given at birth. Nonbinary people are people who do not identify as "men" or "women". A person who is not transgender or nonbinary is a cisgender person.
The good news is that you aren't doomed to have gender dysphoria forever. There are things you can do to help lessen the dysphoria or make it go away altogether.
Some of this stuff is big and dramatic— things like gender confirmation surgery and legal name changes. But some of this stuff is so small and simple that you can do it all by yourself, without anyone else even noticing.
This workbook can help you start doing the small stuff and planning the big stuff. No matter who you are or how you feel about yourself now, you can become the person you want to be.
