Severe brain injury is a term used to describe a serious injury to the brain that results in a loss of consciousness and/or significant damage to brain tissue. This type of injury can have long-term effects on a person's physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning. Some of the possible consequences of severe brain injury include changes in mood and behavior, difficulty with communication and language, problems with memory and concentration, and physical impairments such as weakness or paralysis.
