Ken Block, a 55-year-old snowmobile enthusiast and YouTube celebrity, was a legend in American motorsport.
He was a successful rally driver in competitions like Rally America and Global Rallycross, and later in life, his "Gymkhana" YouTube video series brought him widespread fame.
Almost two million people watched the 10-part series in which he displayed daring racing feats.
DC Shoes, a retailer of skateboarding apparel, was also co-founded by Block.
Block was a "infectious persona" who contributed to the globalization of rally racing, particularly through his social media videos, according to British former rally racer Malcolm Wilson on BBC Radio 5.
Wilson praised the stunts as being "really outstanding" for what he accomplished with vehicles.
Ryan Vargas, a driver in the Nascar Xfinity Series, claimed that watching Block's movies "formed my personality and interest in automobiles."
