Marcia Jaffe is a New York native. For many people, the name Marcia Jaffe is synonymous with human relations. She has dedicated her life and career to the education of Shaker Heights school students and to the pursuit of racial harmony in Shaker Heights and far beyond. She is best known for her achievement as co-founder in 1983 of SGORR, the Student Group on Race Relations, a unique program that brings high school students together with elementary school students to explore, recognize and overcome the stereotypes and behaviors that impede positive race relations. As a result of her outstanding contributions to education and human relations, she has won several awards, among them the Governor's Peace Award. She has also appeared in several productions that promote improving race relations. The title of her lecture is "Peer Education on Race Issues in Public Schools."
