Unable to bear the grief of his wife and daughter leaving, Lorne falls further into his addictions and finds himself homeless. While trying to obtain drugs and alcohol, he gets in a fight where he is injured and left for dead.

But a stranger saves him, and offers to help him break his addiction. Lorne must choose whether to accept this second chance and seek a purpose beyond what he has lost, or lose himself forever to the pain that controls him.

"Pain's Control" is the eleventh short story in Moments Late and the sequel to "Lost in Control."
