Ciulla, a founding faculty member of the Jepson School of Leadership Studies, holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Temple University. She has written more than 70 publications, including Ethics: The Heart of Leadership (Praeger, 1999). Her newest book, The Working Life: The Promise and Betrayal of Modern Work (Times Books and 3 Rivers Press, 2001), offers a historical perspective on the culture of work from philosophical, economical and linguistic points of view. The title of this lecture is, "Ethical Discourse from Socrates to Oprah."
