No sooner had the girl returned to her girdle battle than the executioner jabbed her forehead with his thumb. The maid's eyes immediately closed and she went limp. The man gently laid her down on the bed, quickly untied the belt, pulled it from under her back. Then he stood up, ran his palm in the air over the body, and it disappeared from view. Then he tied a sack of turnips in the corner with a braided leather cord, snapped his fingers, and it took on the appearance of a guest.

The man picked up the "corpse" in his arms and left the room.

It turned out to be very timely. The castellan was on his way to his dwelling. His face anxious, pacing quickly.

- Ah, finished," he grumbled grudgingly as he saw the executioner with his burden. - It took you long enough. I thought I'd check it out.
