Sandy Rivers' journey aboard a Guardian Class Starship, light-years from Earth, brings her to a planet facing extinction and suffering from a war inadvertently started by a 50-million-year-old civilization. She encounters three survivors of a war between two civilizations who have been genetically modified and trained to die in a distant galaxy. The computer that sustains their domed city, can restore their history, and save their civilization was damaged in an ancient war. Sandy Rivers seeking the password protocols to restart their computer unknowingly restores power to the entire planet and precipitates an attack by its former enemy. Without taking sides, she must stop an armada of battle ships set to destroying the planet. Using the starship's advanced computer systems, she changes the course of the two civilizations.
