The goal of this book is to shine a light through the perpetual haze of uncertainty that surrounds the economy and the environment. A portion of finance makes the argument that it will support ecological and energy transition, even save the world. Can this green financing, however, possibly be anything more than a mirage? Like those companies that have gone superficially "green", "sustainable" or "eco-responsible", isn't it just tapping into a new vein? A wide variety of actors and observers have the intuition that the narrative offered by green finance does not match reality, but the functioning of financial markets is opaque and poorly understood. John miller questions the promise and mechanisms of green finance by highlighting the impasse behind the illusions. Financial markets left to their own devices cannot save us from ecological disaster. "the more things change, the more they are the same", finally show us the authors by deliberately situating themselves within the financial paradigm.
